DISEASES COMMENTS

B-Nine is typically used at 2,500 ppm to assist in minimizing internode stretch. The first application should be made approximately 2 weeks after the pinch, when new shoots are about 1.5 in. (4 cm) in length. Then spray once a week for about 3 weeks. Paclobutrazol drench at 1 to 2 ppm has also shown to be effective. Lavender Dreams is naturally compact. Paclobutrazol drench 0.5 ppm or B-Nine spray at 2,500 ppm can be applied if needed. Generally not needed. Sumagic(S) 5-10 ppm or a B-Nine 2,500-3,500 ppm and chlormequat chloride 1,000-1,500 tank mix(S) can be used to maintain habit as needed.

2-3 ppp, 10-12 weeks

Aphids, thrips, mites, leafminers

1 ppp, 8-9 weeks

3-4 ppp, 12-14 weeks

Short-day flowering plants most often produced for natural season sales in the Fall.

Botrytis

Fleas, beetles, caterpillars

Powdery mildew, Rust, Alternaria

1 ppp, 6-7 weeks

1 ppp, 8-10 weeks

1-3 ppp, 6-10 weeks

Grows best in warmer conditions. Avoid overwatering, especially early in production. Lava Rose Coleus will generally not require any PGR applications during production. Plants should be pinched only as needed since Lava Rose is extremely free-branching.

Thrips, aphids, whitefly

1 ppp, 5-7 weeks

1-2 ppp, 6-8 weeks

3-4 ppp, 8-11 weeks

Root rot

Is responsive to B-Nine(S) 2,500-3,500 ppm and chlormequat chloride(S) 1,000-1,500 ppm tank mix or Sumagic(S) 5-10 ppm.

1 ppp, 5-7 weeks

1-3 ppp, 6-8 weeks

4-5 ppp, 8-11 weeks

Whitefly, aphids, thrips

Pinch early to shape. Scout plants regularly for whitefly. Avoid crowding at all stages.

None

Is responsive to B-Nine(S) 2,500-3,500 ppm and chlormequat chloride(S) 1,000-1,500 ppm tank mix or Sumagic(S) 5-10 ppm. Generally not needed. Sumagic(S) 5-10 ppm or a B-Nine 2,500-3,500 ppm and chlormequat chloride 1,000-1,500 tank mix(S) can be used to maintain habit as needed. Generally not needed. No PGR is recommended for this variety, very compact.

Whitefly, aphids, thrips

Good branching coleus. No pinch. No PGR after transplant.

Benefits from a paclobutrazol(D) 2 ppm to control finished habit. Also can benefit from a Florel(S) 250 ppm tank mix with Configure(S) 75 ppm to increase branching.
